I think it's because of the more extreme religious people pose a threat on freedoms in the constitution. Atheists want total separation of church and state, but it is hard to accomplish with extreme religious people trying to force it upon them.

What I don't understand is why atheists (in general) try so hard to prove there is no God. Why does it matter if someone wants to believe in Him?
It is very possible to be an intelligent scientist/scholar and believe in God. It does not hurt the public, but actually seems to encourage a healthy society.

It is actually a term used in evolutionary biology, it's not like saying evolutionist. Evolution is bigger than Darwin and over time there have been different schools of thought within it, for example the distinction between Darwinism/neo-Darwinism and Lamarckism.

Dr.Dawkins is a very intelligent man with so much to say and share by his research and findings. The one thing I wish he would not have said (about 44 min) "Darwinism" instead of the research and findings of Darwin. There is no "Darwinism" like Einsteinism or Newtonism. Other than this, He is a great man and I hope that more people will listen and learn from his works..

So 80% of the questions descend into non sensical shit like "you say you cant see how there is a god but it says in the bible that you can never ever see or hear or detect him"

A lot of the audience were shipped in from a fundamentalist Christian university. Possibly Liberty University but don't quote me on that.
