If you can't enjoy this song for what it is, a happy song, and feel compelled to bash it, then someone must have beat and bullied you into thinking the 80's was more like the Dark Ages. Haha yeah, I almost feel like an internet tough guy for saying that. It's just I don't get those folks who hate on someone posting a song that they like. I'm not gonna like every single song out there, but I'm also not gonna be a jackass to anyone just because they post one.

Music is self-expressionism; in this case, I guess its fair to say that music can also be promotional and for its time of release [80s], would have been completely acceptable, and popular. But by todays standards I think what people enjoy about this song, has more to do with nostalgia than contemporary composition. [Of course there are people out there like me that would contest] [We are talking about 80s music after all]

But whatever your tastes in music may be; to put down an artist, melody, sound; to stereotype and/or cast a negative opinion about a time/place/theme/person that you have no personal knowledge about is just ignorant and more often than not, the ugliest trait a person can express.
