How It All Ends

An undeniable conclusion. (Go ahead. . . Try.) WARNING: mature content may be disturbing to some viewers.

****BULLETIN (10NOV08): Despite my best intentions to let go of this damn project and get back to my family, I gave in to a book agent's suggestion to turn these videos into a book. So, hundreds of dollars of Red Bulls later, "What's the Worst That Could Happen? Cutting Through the Hubbub Over Global Warming" is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. Go to if you're interested. No guarantees, but I think it's much better than the videos. Plus, you can help me recoup some of my Red Bull bill. :-) (And give my wife something tangible for all the suffering I've put her and the kids through.)

madcap - I'm slightly more optimistic than you. We know 100% proof is never possible until after the fact, but current evidence that we're warming the planet dangerously is so compelling that all nations, at the leadership level, are now committed to CO2 reduction even if some individuals resist. Whether their actions will be vigorous and prompt enough to avert serious harm remains to be seen.

It's important to distinguish the source of claims. The science literature universally recognizes anthropogenic warming, based on evidence readers can find there. All denials come from outside the literature - some from blogs, others from YouTube, news media, political groups, or even retired scientists who haven't kept up. The critical question is whether evidence is presented to justify any claim, and those who read the journals are aware of the compelling evidence for a predominant CO2 role.

Hm. Under "Dr. Benny Peiser," you should put "Social Scientist." And then compare his statement to that of NAS, AAAS, and the science academies of every industrialized nation on earth. Then ask yourself: "Which seems like the better bet on which to wager the world?"
icecreamdose (November 30, 2008 at 11:40 pm)
you need to look further in to who Benny Pieser is

And we know about the public statements from the places that are made with an eye on grant money.

Haven't you been over this many times already?
icecreamdose (November 30, 2008 at 11:42 pm)
"NAS, AAAS,"

maybe you should look at what some of the members of these organizations have had to say about "global warming" and not just what their bureaucratic office has to say.
icecreamdose (November 30, 2008 at 11:52 pm)
You should look in to what Freeman Dyson has to say about "global warming". He 's in 2 videos in YouTube. The titles:

Freeman Dyson on Global Warming 1of2 Bogus Climate Models

Freeman Dyson on Global Warming 2of2 Stratospheric Cooling

p.s. I hope you have high respect for Freeman Dyson. He may be the most prestigious scientist in the world
p.s.s. in case you were going to reply to me that he doesn't have a PhD let me say now he has INTENTIONALLY never wanted a PhD for philosophical reasons

hamster - If the cynics were logical, they would be convinced by the evidence for anthropogenic warming you describe, which is indeed compelling, but I believe anyone's failure to be persuaded by the evidence at this point simply means they are unpersuadable period. This video is designed to circumvent the arguments that confuse uninformed but open-minded viewers by asking them to consider supporting CO2 remediation even if they don't know whom to believe. I like it basically because it works.

I agree with you, which is why I strongly criticize this childish form of argument.

This argument is not based on statistics. None were presented. This argument is based on the infinite "cost" of the last square on his grid. It's the same "cost" as not believing in God.

Global warming is not an idea or a possibility. It's a reality that we have to face and the only way to make the cynics accept it is to show them the extensive evidence we have collected. This only hurts the cause.

I have heard this same argument (the one presented in the video) as to why a person should accept jesus into ones heart.... I agree that only through "proving" global warming will cause people to change that dont want to currently
