The American Denial of Global Warming

Back

Polls show that between one-third and one-half of Americans still believe that there is "no solid" evidence of global warming, or that if warming is happening it can be attributed to natural variability. Others believe that scientists are still debating the point. Join scientist and renowned historian Naomi Oreskes as she describes her investigation into the reasons for such widespread mistrust and misunderstanding of scientific consensus and probes the history of organized campaigns designed to create public doubt and confusion about science. There have always been floods, droughts, hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, cyclones, heatwaves and cold snaps. FACT: The occurrence of these things has not changed from the last degree of warming, neither in intensity or number. Why will the next degree of warming make the world uninhabitable? I think that in time people will look back on the hysteria over Global Warming and laugh at all the time and money we spent on it, just like we make fun of ancient alchemists and doctors who used leeches.

I won't comment on steam, hydrogen, and laminar flow, which don't seem relevant to warming driven primarily by CO2, based on its infrared absorbing properties. However, it's worth mentioning that solar influences on climate exist, but are small compared with CO2 effects. The current solar minimum appears to be ending and solar flux increasing again. Sunspots are a very rough guide to this, and the precise irradiance data from satellites can be found by Googling SORCE.

So H2O goes to He and O with excess heat? Where do the two extra neutrons in He come from? The covalent bond energies in water is vastly insufficient to produce neutrons from the vacuum. To learn what happens when you separate a water molecule, I would suggest googling electrolysis of water.

Furthermore, cold fusion is denied by experiment and theory.

And my heart is at 1.013 bar or standard atmospheric pressure.

Turbulent flow of high pressure water or steam does molecular nuclear fusion. Making He, O and heat. Power with no CO2. THe deep sea, and green plants in the lgiht do it. AS does your heart.

Hydrogen is a greenhouse gas and steam is molecular fusion?

Is that your final answer?

Classification of a greenhouse gas has nothing to do with laminar or turbulent flow.

GW happens where we have molecular hydrogen in turbuelnt flow - like the sea or air on the Earth. Wtihuot it, there would be no life on Earth! Steam, IC and jet engines all do molecular nuclear fusion too. Power with no CO2!
Stwryrch (December 4, 2008 at 3:39 pm)
Jon, GW was hypothesized before any human knew anything about the strong force. GW is currently happening on Venus and probably every other planetary body with an atmosphere.

If 2008 is tied for #3 for fewest sunspots in the last 100 years, according to your logic, does that not imply that our current temperature should than be tied for the 3rd lowest in the past 100 years?

Because clearly, it is not. How do you explain that?
JonThm (December 4, 2008 at 5:49 am)
GW was an idea publisised by nuclear power, and its paid stooges. As here.

THE EARTH IS COOLING

THE EARTH WILL CONTINUE TO COOL

2008, so far, is tied for #3 for fewest sunspots in the last 100 years. By end of December it could easily end up #2.
