The extremists are Chinese Communists! Their extreme natianalist have made them become unfair, unjustice, disregard of the facts & the truth!
We, vietnamese people should stand up & raise our voices for the territory of our country. Paracel & Spratly islands belong to Vietnam. Vietnamese history has proved that those islands were the land of our ancestors. China also killed innocent Vietnamese fishermen on the sea territory which belong to Vietnam! We never forgive & forget!

It is wrong when you think Vietnamese ancestors were Chinese. The true is the ancestors of many Chinese, now living Guandong & Guanxi & Hainan Dao were Yue (Viet) people. Because the land of Guandong, Guanxi & Hainan Dao (including Hongkong, Macau, Guilin:"Quế Lâm") were the land of Yue people (Viet people). Viet people had to move to the south for more safety to avoid the war with the aggressive China.
T.same as Thai people(Thailand),before, their ancestors lived the S. China.

Some Chinese always say that they believe the islands belong to China because China was the most civilized country. This is unlogical thinking!; thus, it's unrealistic! The civilized isn't related to the authority & territory of a country. For example, China was a big country & civilized, but the whole China country was lost to the hands of Mongol invaders in 14th century; VN is a small country, but VN still had full authority & territory of VN country, because VN defeated the Mongols.

In some libraries in Europe, Vietnamese also have many evidences of many foreigners who traveled to VN by ships, they reported that the Vietnamese Kings & soldiers exercised the authority over Paracel & Spratly Islands. Therefore, some Asian maps in Europe in 17th & 18th century, we can see these islands belong to VN on the maps.
In some libraries in Europe, Vietnamese also have many evidences of many foreigners who traveled to VN by ships, they reported that the Vietnamese Kings & soldiers exercised the authority over Paracel & Spratly Islands. Therefore, some Asian maps in Europe in 17th & 18th century, we can see these islands belong to VN on the maps.

So sorry for your poor knowledge! You need to find the evidences to know the truth! Before French invaded VN, Vietnamese Kings already administered those islands. VN Kings established some groups of navy soldiers who in charged duty to patrol on these islands, or measured the islands, & other soldiers were in charged of salvage the sunk ships in these area. We have many documents & records & the Kings orders for those activities of Navy soldiers on Paracel & Spratly islands.
