Lol that guy who said that they stay for the people is totally wrong, look at World of Warcraft HORRIABLE people in it and 10 million subscribers. Everquest on the other hand has great people and only about 400,000 subscribers.

people get addicted to these virtual worlds because its easy and straight-forward. it doesnt matter if ur fat thin, spotty , gay , ill, disabled, injured, lazy... u can still achieve things. this is why in some (not so extreme) cases people spend more of there lives in the virtual world than in the real world meaning they wither and become isolated from normal human behaviour and leads them to more and more prefer thier virtual life.

I don't think they wither. Some of these WOW types have expanded like a helium baloon with an IV dripfeed of coke and pizza.
