Blaise Aguera y Arcas: Photosynth demo
BackUsing photos of oft-snapped subjects (like Notre Dame) scraped from around the Web, Photosynth (based on Seadragon technology) creates breathtaking multidimensional spaces with zoom and navigation features that outstrip all expectation. Its architect, Blaise Aguera y Arcas, shows it off in this standing-ovation demo. Curious about that speck in corner? Dive into a freefall and watch as the speck becomes a gargoyle. With an unpleasant grimace. And an ant-sized chip in its lower left molar. "Perhaps the most amazing demo I've seen this year," wrote Ethan Zuckerman, after TED2007. Indeed, Photosynth might utterly transform the way we manipulate and experience digital images.

actually is much simpler than it seems if i got it right , you take the photo info stored in JPEGs and link them together in one place .... as simple as it sounds its extremely neat ... these kind of ideas are the most impressive ... when something is so dumb obvious but no one has thought of it .. !

It's the scaling and pattern recognition is the beautiful bit. I wonder how it knows which image is authoritative. That's it I've got to get a load of money get some Nvidia Teslas and a bank of projectors going. Finally, something to show on a 50m screen.

This is a little difficult to understand. I wonder if this will take off... I wanna see this application! <3
